Sony's Long-Delayed UNCHARTED Movie Just Lost Another Director
We've been waiting a long time for Uncharted to become a reality and it's now been revealed that Shawn Levy has decided to depart the project for another video game movie. Read on for further details...
Well, it seems as if it's "Game Over!" for Shawn Levy and the Uncharted movie. The filmmaker has left the long-delayed video game adaptation in order to take the helm of Fox's Free Guy instead.
That starts production next April and is based on a 2016 Black List script by Matt Lieberman. It revolves around a bank teller (Ryan Reynolds) who realises that he's actually an NCP (non-playable character) in an open world video game. It's then that he teams up with a human's avatar to try and save both the game and the world.
It sounds like a really fun concept and it's easy to see why the Real Steel director has decided to board this project rather than wait for Uncharted - which Spider-Man: Far From Home star Tom Holland is attached to star in - to become a reality.
Fans weren't happy with Holland being cast as Nathan Drake because they don't seem particularly interested in watching a movie about a young Drake. Throw in the fact that a fan-film starring Nathan Fillion was met with rave reviews and Levy might be better off doing something different.
