Warhammer 40,000: Darktide is going under the Hive. Fatshark set a free update, Depths of the Damned, for September 29 on Steam, PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Xbox Game Pass is on the same day in the trailer listing.
The new mission is called Spillway. Strike teams drop into Tertium's Water Cartel territory: tunnels, waterways, and passages the city was not supposed to show you. Routes split. Some are worse than others. Fatshark says they all feed the same end. The Prophet of Decay waits at the bottom. Check out the new trailer below:
The developers say that the Spillway is the climax of a mini story campaign, not a one-off board tile. That matches how Battle for Tertium and No Man's Land were sold: a short connected run, then the map stays. Penances and a difficulty ladder usually ride those campaigns. Those extras are not in this first post.
The Prophet is a Psyker boss. Fatshark will not sketch the fight yet. The domain is the Torrent in the studio blog, the deep water works of the Cartel in the player-facing text. "No ordinary spawn of Chaos" is the line. More on the encounter comes in the weeks before the 29th.

Fatshark says the mix is open to a range of classes and that a Feature Highlight on the forums will break down who actually holds what.
The rest of the patch is the usual Hive mail. A new live event. A store rotation. Quality-of-life work. No patch number is on the announcement. No list of the QoL items. Shambling Horrors was the August live event. Skitarii shipped as a class on June 23. Expeditions came in with Beyond the Hive in March. Depths of the Damned is the next named free drop after that summer class.
Path choice is the mission hook. Darktide maps already branch under pressure. Spillway is being sold as a labyrinth where the wrong pipe costs you before the boss room. Four-player coordination on a Psyker in a floodworks is the test. If the Prophet plays like other named monsters, the first week will be wipes while people learn which route still has ammo.
This is not a paid expedition pack. Fatshark said it would be free across the platforms the game already occupies. Skitarii and Arbites were the shop classes. Weapons and Spillway ride the update.
