SEGA announced at the end of last year Yakuza Online, a title for PC and mobile phones that will open a new chapter in the popular franchise. The company unveiled a new teaser trailer for this project, which will arrive in Japan this year.

Players from that country can already pre-register from their website. Depending on the popularity of this stage of the game, there will be some rewards for the community. Unfortunately, there are no details of its location in the West.

Yakuza Online will put aside the adventures of Kazuma Kiryu to welcome Ichiban Kasuga, the new protagonist. He will live various adventures throughout Kamurocho, while players meet new characters.

SEGA indicated that Yakuza Online will also bring back some of the most iconic characters of the franchise. However, they will focus on telling new stories. The game will feature RPG mechanics and in battles, players can control up to 5 characters.

The title will begin when Kasuga returns to Kamurocho after a long absence, as he spent 17 years in prison. In a short time Kasuga will realize that the district is no longer controlled by the Tojo Clan, as the police now take charge of the place.

The game will debut as free-to-play. Yakuza Online is in development for PC, as well as for iOS and Android devices. We will have to wait to know details regarding exact release dates.

Yakuza Online will be available for iOS, Android and PC.
