On Monday of this week we found out that Animal Crossing: New Horizons had managed to become the single fastest-selling Nintendo Switch game in the United Kingdom. This is actually quite the feat, considering that the game had only been out for two days at the time of the announcement.
Animal Crossing: New Horizons was also able to become the best-selling title in the Animal Crossing series, including spin-off and mainline series titles combined; again, quite the feat for the recently released title.
Today, thanks to Famitsu magazine, we now know that Animal Crossing: New Horizons is Japan's biggest Nintendo Switch launch ever with a grnd total of 1.88 million physical copies sold.
This information reveals that the recently released, and critically acclaimed Animal Crossing: New Horizons has also managed to outsell Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield — which combined sold an equally impressive 1.36 million copies within the same time span.
Famitsu's information also reveals that the success of Animal Crossing: New Horizons helped Nintendo Switch hardware sales higher than the console's own launch, with an impressive 392,576 units sold during its launch weekend back in March of 2017.
