While the Nintendo 3DS continues to do well, handheld consoles often struggle, especially with mobile gaming now such a big business. However, during an earnings briefing earlier today, GameStop CEO Paul Raines revealed (via Gamespot) that he's been able to get his hands on the console and is so impressed he sees big things in its future. "The Nintendo Switch, which I played at Nintendo a few weeks ago--we believe could be another game-changer that will expand the audience for gaming."

Raines isn't the only one to praise the console as Skyrim director Todd Howard recently said that he tried the Switch at E3 and was blown away by, "Probably the best demo I've ever seen." Oh, and Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot has said that he thinks it has the potential to "redefine" gaming.

Official details about the Nintendo Switch are set to be revealed at an event in January, while it's set to go on sale in March. Whether or not it really will end up redefining gaming and changing the way we play remains to be seen, but it should be very interesting to keep an eye on how this one develops.
