Overwatch is coming to the Nintendo Switch — on October 15th! That was announced at the very start of Nintendo's most recent Direct presentation just a few weeks ago.

Ahead of the official announcement and afterwards, fans have speculated that the popular multiplayer game now being available on a Nintendo platform means that its many characters are now eligible to join the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster. Inverse recently asked Blizzard Entertainment themselves what they thought of the idea.

Producers Wes Yanagi and Andrew Boyd said that it would be tough to decide which of Overwatch's many heroes gets the invitation — as they don't have a favourite and love them all equally — but they both agree that it would be awesome for such a crossover to happen. "That's up to Nintendo," Yanagi added.

Conversely, a talented bunch of fans recently put together a concept video which shows off what it would look like if Link from Nintendo's The Legend of Zelda series was to be added to Overwatch. You can check that out here.

Overwatch is out now for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC — and will be coming to the Nintendo Switch on October 15th, 2019.
