Nintendo Offers Rare Response To Recent NINTENDO SWITCH 2 Leaks

In the wake of numerous leaks and ongoing speculation surrounding the Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo has offered a rare response to all of the online chatter and leaked images.

There's been no shortage of speculation and rumors surrounding the impending announcement of the Nintendo Switch 2, but some of the biggest leaks have emerged over the last couple of days. At CES 2025 in Las Vegas this past week, video game accessory maker Geniki was reportedly showing off what it claimed to be an accurate replica of the Nintendo Switch 2.

The replica was said to be the "exact dimensions" of the Switch 2, with reporters who went hands-on with it claiming that it "feels significantly larger in the hand" due to the larger screen size. Videos from the event also revealed that the Joy-Cons are now detachable from the side, while images showed off a mysterious new "C" button.

Perhaps the biggest leak to come out of CES, though, was the Nintendo Switch 2's release date. Genki claims that the Nintendo Switch 2 will be released in April. Meanwhile, prominent leaker Average Lucia Fanatic says that the Switch 2 will launch in March, with a reveal coming as early as this Friday.

Nintendo chose not to participate in CES 2025 despite the looming release of the Switch's successor; however, all of the rumors have prompted a rare response from the company. Speaking to the Japanese publication Sankei, a Nintendo representative simply stated: "These images and videos are not official."

It's not the most exciting response from Nintendo, but it serves as a reminder that any leaks and rumors you read about should be taken with a grain of salt. It's possible that the Switch 2 could look like the replica that was seen in images floating around the internet, but Nintendo won't confirm or deny its legitimacy.

Instead, we'll have to wait for the official reveal. Unfortunately, we don't know when that will come.

Nintendo has confirmed that the Switch successor will be revealed before the end of its current fiscal year, which ends in March 2025. However, many believe the system will be shown off sometime in January. As previously mentioned, Average Lucia Fanatic, who has previously leaked details about the PS5 Pro and the Nintendo Alarmo, claims the Switch 2 will be revealed this week on Friday, January 17, 2025.

It's not usual for a major gaming company not to comment on rumors and speculation, especially for something as major as a new console. The fact that Nintendo is a publicly traded company could have something to do with its bland response to the leaks.
