Not to be confused with the similar fighting series, Beyblade, Bakugan is a franchise that began as a toy line and anime series titled Bakugan: Battle Brawlers, in 2007. In the original series Bakugan were tiny, colorful balls that, when used in a battle or activated, exploded into a creature that was viewed almost like a giant kaiju in the cartoon.
The franchise was a massive success and spawned multiple series and more toys based on the original concept. Fast forward to 2020, where the most recent iteration Bakugan: Armored Alliance, has reignited the fire the series once had and has gathered new fans to get into the series.
The Bakugan franchise has also had a few video game releases following its first game, Bakugan Battle Brawlers. The most recent game, titled Bakugan: Champions of Vestroia, is an RPG style game that allows for online play and the ability to have the player find, train and customize their Bakugan team while exploring and interacting with the world around them.
A recent announcement, form Nintendo, has revealed the developers at WayForward will be bringing the game to the west and on the Nintendo Switch this winter! Make sure to check out the trailer below and don't forget to share your thoughts in the comments!
