One of the benefits of being a subscriber of Nintendo Switch Online is access to the Nintendo Entertainment System digital library of classic games.
This library, which already boasts over 20 games that you can play at home or on the go, is getting two more next week. Arriving on January 16 is
Blade Master and
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link. For those of you too young to remember what these classics were all about, here's a brief description:
Blaster Master – It’s panic or perish as you blast through an endless maze of tunnels, seeking secret passages for an escape. Destroy the Plutonium Boss and his mutant cronies before these warlords destroy the earth. Load up your arsenal, and get ready for the final encounter!
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link – Link™ returns to Hyrule to search for the Triforce™ and to awaken Zelda™ from an endless sleep. Embark on a quest to find the Triforce of Courage and save Hyrule from ruin. Learn magic spells, talk to people in towns to get clues, collect items to increase your power and explore six palaces where the underlings of the evil Ganon await you.
With these new additions, the library of NES games available via Nintendo Switch Online grows to over 30 titles, including
Metroid, Super Mario Bros., The Legend of Zelda, Donkey Kong, and many.
Nintendo Switch Online launched in September and provides a number of features for Nintendo's hybrid console. While most subscribe for the capability to play games like
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate online, it also provides other benefits, like access to cloud saves and a smartphone app, special offers, and access to the NES library.
Nintendo Switch Online costs $3.99 for one month or $7.99 for three months. You can also purchase an entire year-long individual subscription for $19.99 or a 12-month family plan for $34.99.
