Nicalis and Japanese animation studio Tezuka Productions have joined forces to bring us Crystal Crisis—a tile-matching puzzle game coming this Fall exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.

In Crystal Crisis players can pull-off powerful special attacks by matching tiles of falling gems in the same fashion as Capcom's deceased Puzzle Fighter. When the characters match colours, they deal a lot more damage to their opponents. The game is also bringing together 19 players from some of Nicalis and Tezuka Productions' most popular characters from games such as The Binding of Isaac, Cave Story, Black Jack, and even Atom(or Astro Boy as known outside of Japan.)

Today, Nicalis has released an extended version of the animated trailer for Crystal Crisis and there is something very charmoing of seeing anime characters like Astro Boy interacting with Cave Story's Quote , especially because of how well animated it is. The game will likely end up becoming an instant classic since premise alone it already seems to be a dream come true for many players around the globe.

An all-star cast of heroes has gathered to test their mettle in this cute and chaotic new color-matching combat game for Nintendo Switch. Crystal Crisis is presented like a one-on-one fighting game, but instead of pressing buttons to kick and punch, players arrange falling gems into matching colors to clear them from the screen and inflict damage on their opponents. It’s the ultimate puzzle battle throw down!

Crystal Crisis will be available for the Nintendo Switch this Fall.
