September is here, and Nintendo Switch 2 owners have plenty to keep them busy as we head into the fall. This month’s lineup brings a pretty solid mix of big-name releases, returning favorites, and a few games that might have slipped under your radar.

We've got a few heavy hitters on the way, including Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, which arrives on September 17 and should be one of the month’s biggest releases for Switch 2 owners. But RPG fans have plenty to look forward to in general, with Trails in the Sky 2nd Chapter, Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age, and The Legend of Heroes: Trails from Zero and Trails to Azure all joining the lineup this month.

There are some pretty big names outside of RPGs, too. LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight lands on September 18, while EA Sports FC 27 and NBA 2K27 have sports fans covered. September also brings Onimusha: Way of the Sword, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Remastered, and Minecraft Dungeons II, giving Switch 2 owners a nice mix of new games and familiar franchises to dig into.

One of the biggest releases of the month is Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave, the latest entry in Nintendo’s long-running tactical RPG series. The story follows four heroes whose journeys become intertwined as they travel through time, gather allies, and attempt to stop the demon god Balor from destroying the future. Fortune’s Weave is introducing some new ideas to the series' turn-based tactical battle mechanics, like the Heroic Games, a competition where the winner is promised a single wish.

A day later, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight makes its Switch 2 debut. Previously only available on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, this open-world action-adventure follows Bruce Wayne from his early training with the League of Shadows through his transformation into Batman, pulling inspiration from decades of movies, comics, television shows, and games along the way. You can explore Gotham, drive more than 20 vehicles, unlock 100 suits, and play as characters like Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Catwoman, and Jim Gordon.

Rounding out my personal list of must-haves this month is Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Capcom’s revival of a beloved series that had been largely dormant for years. This dark fantasy action game puts you in the role of legendary samurai Miyamoto Musashi as he explores a twisted version of Edo-period Kyoto overrun by demonic Genma. Capcom has rebuilt the series so newcomers don’t need to know anything about the older games, while longtime fans finally get a proper modern Onimusha experience.

Check out what's releasing for PlayStation 5 this month!
