Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is only a few days away from coming out and Nintendo have just released two new character trailers, ahead of the game's release, so players can get acquainted with some of the original Kongs.
In these two new character trailers we are introduced to Diddy Kong, who has been Donkey's sidekick since the very first
Donkey Kong Country released in 1994 for the Super Nintendo, and Dixie Kong who is Diddy's girlfriend ,as well as his sidekick, and was introduced as a playable character in
Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest(1996).
These two Kongs will be lending Donkey a helping hand as they try to take back
Donkey Kong Island from the evil Snowmads. Dixie Kong has the ability to make her ponytail rotate like a helicopter and help Donkey get past those tricky platforming sections, or be used as a propeller when going underwater. Diddy Kong comes equipped with his peanut popgun and a jetpack that allows him to hover for a few seconds.
Dixie and Diddy can provide support to Donkey Kong in Single Player mode and also be controlled by another player in Co-Op mode. As per shown in the trailers, these Kongs can also be selected individually, once the game has been completed, in Hard Mode, which sees players going through the same stages but with a few minor differences. Hard Mode stages do not have any checkpoints and stamina is only limited to one hit, which will likely keep players coming back to
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze for more, especially if they didn't find the game's Normal mode challenging enough.
Arctic invaders have turned Donkey Kong Island into their personal frozen fortress, and it’s up to you to save the day. Barrel-blast into this critically acclaimed adventure, complete with a banana-bunch of new features. Traverse islands packed with platforming perfection and nonstop action as the classic Kongs in the original game, or mix things up by playing the story as Funky Kong in the new Funky Mode!
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is coming out exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on the 4th of May.
