Piranha Plant was one of the new characters to be revealed in the last Nintendo Direct that focused solely on Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, with the only difference being that Piranha Plant —as opposed to fellow newcomers Ken Masters and Incineroar — is the first post-launch character to join the roster.

In the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Direct, Nintendo also let players know that people who purchased the game early, could register their game and get a code to redeem Piranha Plant for free. The character would become available for purchases at a later date, so early buyers get the character, well, earlier.

Today, Nintendo has announced, via their Nintendo Switch News Feed, that Piranha Plant has just become available for those players who registered their physical copy of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate; reminding them that they have until tomorrow at 11:59 p.m. PT to register their game and get their code for Piranha Plant on their email address associated with their Nintendo Account.

Players who have just bought Super Smash Bros. Ultimate and registered it — or those who will buy the game before the expiration date — may have to wait up to 10 days to receive their Piranha Plant code.

In order for players to register the game, they have to stick the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate cartridge into the Nintendo Switch, highlight the game's icon on the Nintendo Switch Home menu, press the + or - button, go to My Nintendo Rewards Program and then click on Earn Points. Again, this will only work for physical copies of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

Legendary game worlds and fighters collide in the ultimate showdown—a new entry in the Super Smash Bros. series for the Nintendo Switch system! New fighters, like Inkling from the Splatoon series and Ridley from the Metroid series, make their Super Smash Bros. series debut alongside every Super Smash Bros. fighter in the series…EVER!

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is currently available exclusively for the Nintendo Switch.
