About two weeks ago,
we officially learned that Microsoft's Xbox Live service would be becoming available for Nintendo Switch, as well as iOS and Android devices. While Nintendo and Microsoft have lately been collaborating more than they ever have in the past to undermine PS4's position as the indisputable generation winner, hardly anyone would expect to play classic Xbox titles on the Switch.
According to
Jeuxvideo, Microsoft is indeed planning to bring their best-known games to the Switch, which would surely be the most unexpected gaming announcement of 2019 (and I'd like to remind you that we started off the year with Bungie acquiring rights to
Destiny from Activision and Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford being accused of losing a USB drive that reportedly contained not only his "
personal collections of underage pornography," but also sensitive corporate documents for 2K, Sega, and Sony).
As revealed by the French website, Nintendo and Microsoft has recently had several meetings in Redmond regarding their upcoming partnership, resulting in more than a hundred Xbox games coming to the Switch via Gamepass and/or X Cloud. Furthermore, the upcoming
Ori and the Blind Forest will also be allegedly available for the Nintendo system, just like
Forza, Gears of War, and
Halo titles, but it's unclear if we're talking about the newly released games or those from the Xbox and Xbox 360 era.
At the time of writing, Microsoft had not announced any plans to launch their games for the Switch.
