Nintendo just doesn't seem to want to stop adding characters to the Mario Tennis Aces roster, as they have been consistently adding new participants pretty much since the game was released.

In November of last year, Nintendo announced that they would be adding three new characters to the roster; all of which will be free additions that can be unlocked eary by players who participate on the Mario Tennis Aces online tournaments.

The three characters announced were Super Mario Galaxy's Luma, recurring baddie from the Super Mario Bros. series Boom Boom, and the original 1981 Donkey Kong's damsel in distress(Mayor of New Donk City, as seen in Super Mario Odyssey) Pauline.

Today, Nintendo has released a new trailer for Pauline, who will become available for players who participate on the Mario Tennis Aces online tournament of March, which starts on the first day of the month and ends on the 31st. As per usual, the character will become available for everyone once the tournament is over on the 1st of April.
