Rumors continue to swirl about the Nintendo Switch 2 and its highly anticipated reveal. Today, a new report from gaming insider Nate The Hate claims that the Switch 2 will be revealed on Thursday, January 16th.

“I can share with you that Nintendo Switch 2 will be revealed in the coming week… I have been told Switch 2 will be revealed on Thursday, January 16… just a few days from now,” they said on the Nate The Hate podcast.

This is actually a day sooner than what we heard from Average Lucia Fanatic. Over the weekend, Average Lucia Fanatic, who has previously leaked details about the PS5 Pro and the Nintendo Alarmo, claimed that the Switch 2 will be revealed on Friday, January 17, 2025.

While the exact day seems to be in flux, the general consensus is that the Switch successor will be announced sometime this week. The Verge reporter Tom Warren corroborated the timeframe, adding on social media, "I've heard it should be the Switch 2 reveal this week."

On his Podcast, Nate The Hate added that the reveal trailer will focus specifically on the Switch 2 hardware, with a games showcase coming in late February or early March.

“I’ve heard that the reveal itself is going to focus almost exclusively on the console itself," Nate The Hate said. "There is not going to be any presence of games. There could be a game shown running on the screen, depending on how the trailer is put together, but software is not going to be a focus.”

VGC has also corroborated the two-part reveal plan. If true, it would follow a similar structure to the Switch's reveal. The hybrid console was first announced with a trailer in 2016 that focused on hardware — although we did see Mario Odyssey and a few other games running — and was then followed with a full reveal in January that focused on games and release details.

There's also been plenty of talk and speculation about a release date for the Switch 2. Nate The Hate speculates that it could launch in May or June of this year, which is also what VGC has heard from its own sources. This is actually the latest reported date we've heard thus far. Average Lucia Fanatic claimed a March release, while accessory maker Genki reportedly told journalists at CES that the console would be out in April.

So far, Nintendo has not responded to any of the rumors and speculation surrounding the Switch 2. When asked for comment regarding the leaked replicas at CES, a Nintendo representative simply stated: "These images and videos are not official."

The console maker has also not made any mention of a Switch 2 reveal taking place this week on social media or anywhere else. Usually, Nintendo posts some sort of save the date for the livestream, but so far we've got nothing. That said, there are still a few more days to go, so it's possible we could get some formal announcement soon.
