Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Classics is a game that compiles 50 of the most iconic titles released for Sega's popular console from the 16-Bit era. From all-time classic platformers like the original
Sonic the Hedgehog and
Alex Kidd in the Enchanted Castle, to beat 'em ups and fighting games like
Golden Axe,
Streets of Rage, and
Virtua Fighter 2.
The game was already released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One back in May of this year. A Nintendo Switch version of the game announced back in August and was expected to release this Winter and we finally have an official date for the game, as well as a brand new trailer that introduces some interesting features to the Switch version of the game.
Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Classics for the Nintendo Switch will be releasing on the
7th of December, and will be including an Instant Rewind feature akin to that seen in the
Mega Man Legacy Collection, which allows players to seamlessly rewind their game with the press of a button in order to pass those unforgiving sections that abound in 16-Bit era games.
The Nintendo Switch version of
Sega Genesis/Mega Drive Classics will also be introducing Challenges for all of the 50 included titles, as well as a Mirror Mode; adding a lot more replay value to the games. It is still unknown, however, if these features will be Nintendo Switch exclusives or if they will eventually be added to other versions of the game via a free update.
