After a previous rumor, it's now confirmed that WWE superstar Cody Rhodes is currently practicing his Flash Kicks and Sonic Booms in anticipation of co-starring as Guile in the upcoming Street Fighter movie.

Rhodes is the latest cast addition, after it was previously confirmed that David Dastmalchian will portray the Psycho Crusher-plying M. Bison.

The confirmed cast for the movie now includes:

  • Noah Centineo as Ken
  • Andrew Koji as  Ryu
  • Cody Rhodes as Guile
  • WWE's Roman Reigns as Akuma
  • Jason Momoa as Blanka
  • Callina Liang as Chun-Li
  • Andrew Schulz as Dan
  • Orville Peck as Vega
  • 50 Cent as Balrog
  • David Dastmalchian as M. Bison

Several iconic Street Fighter characters have yet to be officially cast, including fan favorites such as Cammy, Zangief, Dhalsim, E. Honda, and Sagat. With so many key roles still open, speculation is heating up about which actors might step into these legendary roles.

According to a recent report from The Hollywood Reporter, production on the upcoming Street Fighter film is set to begin this August in Australia. The movie is being jointly developed and produced by Legendary Entertainment and Capcom, a partnership that signals a serious commitment to creating a faithful and exciting cinematic experience based on one of gaming’s most celebrated franchises.

Director Kitao Sakurai, best known for his work on the irreverent and absurd comedy Bad Trip, is attached to direct. He will be working from a screenplay by Dalan Musson, whose previous writing credits include Captain America: Brave New World. This creative team hints at a film that will mix stylized action with moments of offbeat humor and character-driven storytelling.

Capcom’s Street Fighter series is widely regarded as one of the most influential and long-running fighting game franchises in history. However, its journey to the big screen has been rocky. The 1994 adaptation starring Jean-Claude Van Damme and Kylie Minogue was met with mixed reviews and only moderate financial success, though it has earned cult status over time due to its campy tone and over-the-top performances. In contrast, the 2009 film Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li was poorly received and remains a low point for video game adaptations.

With filming just around the corner, this new attempt at bringing Street Fighter to theaters is generating excitement among fans who are eager to see these characters done justice.
