Anyone that has used the Nintendo Switch's eShop knows how unintuitive, and tedious it could get searching for games on its platform. The main reason for this was due to the Switch's eShop lacking some proper filters to make things easier for the users.
Nintendo has recently added new search filters to the Nintendo witch eShop that include categories such as Genre, Games with Demos, Downloadable Content, and Price Range. In subcategories, Nintendo has also added some search filters that make searching for titles even easier by allowing users to search for games On Sale, games that are only available digitally in Download Only, games that are only played online in Supports Online Play via Nintendo Switch Online, and Playable Now for titles that have already released.
While these sound like obvious filters to have in any video game console online shop, Nintendo is not the only company that has featured a rather lackluster search engine. A few months ago,
Sony finally addressed their own Search Engine issue, which had been lackluster pretty much since the console released back in 2013.
What's baffling in both Sony and Nintendo's cases, is the fact that prior to the current console's respective search engines, the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii U had done a more than decent job giving users a proper search engine that, for some reason, they chose to dismiss when it came to the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Thankfully, both companies have redeemed themselves in that department; even if it took them longer than it should.
