Nintendo has announced that the Nintendo Switch is exceeding the company's expectations with 17,79 million sold consoles since its last year's launch, witch 15.05 million systems sold during the 2017 financial year. Nintendo increased its forecast to 15 million units by January of this year, and that figure was pretty much bang on the money with 15.5 million sold by the end of the fiscal year.

"Consumers have been very receptive to the new concept introduced by Nintendo Switch as a home gaming system that they can take with them to play anytime, anywhere, with anyone, which helped it maintain its favorable momentum during this fiscal year. Looking ahead, we plan to leverage this momentum to reach an even broader range of consumers and expand the installed base of the hardware," Nintendo explained the console's success in a prepared statement.

The Switch exclusives are also selling well, with Super Mario Odyssey breaking not only records on MetaCritic (97%), but has also crossed the 10 million unit sales mark. In addition to this, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe sold 9.22 million and Splatoon 2 sold 6.02 million units. The combined software sales results for this fiscal year reached 68.97 million units and you check out the full list of Switch's exclusives below:
