Mario Tennis Aces is Nintendo's newest entry in the
Mario Tennis franchise that just released on the
22nd of June, becoming almost instantly a hit in terms of sales—at least in the UK.
According to the UK's
GfK Chart-Track,
Mario Tennis Aces is now leading the software sales charts and even managed to take the number 1 spot from Electronic Arts'
FIFA 18—which had been leading for the past two weeks. According to the GfK
FIFA 18,
God of War,
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and
Fallout 4 have remained in the Top 5, while
Detroit: Become Human went from the 4th to the 6th position since last week.
It isn't really that surprising to see a Nintendo title taking one of the top positions in the UK Charts since
Kirby Star Allies, also for the Nintendo Switch, managed to land the 2nd position when it launched—losing out to
Burnout Paradise Remastered—as well as
Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze —which is actually a Nintendo Wii U port—that got the number 1 position at launch earlier in May.
Keeping all of that in mind, there's a high chance that
Mario Tennis Aces won't be leading the charts for too long but it does give us a better idea of how successful the Nintendo Switch is and how well its games are doing on launch day—proving that Nintendo are definitely doing something right marketing their products.
