The original Pikmin 3 was released for the Nintendo Wii U back in July of 2013, which is a few months after the console was released, and the main reason why so many players, even fans of the Pikmin series, missed out on it.
Fortunately, Nintendo has been doing a pretty great job bringing pretty much the entirety of the Wii U's library to the Nintendo Switch, and Pikmin 3 was not going to be the exception, as they announced that the real-time strategy title will be releasing for the handheld hybrid in a few more weeks.
Pikmin 3 Deluxe aims to give Nintendo Switch players the same experience, but with a few extras that include new side stories, as well as all of the previously released downloadable content. A bump in resolution and frame rate is also expected, although Nintendo has not really confirmed whether this is the case or not.
Whatever the case, Nintendo announcing Pikmin 3 Deluxe is great news in and of itself, as it shows that they haven't completely forgotten about the series. While it is true that Hey! Pikmin was released in 2017 for the Nintendo 3DS, many fans don't even consider it a proper Pikmin title; reagrdless of it actually being a pretty fun title.
Today, Nintendo has released a new gameplay trailer for Pikmin 3 Deluxe that introduces players to the adorable Pikmin creatures themselves. Well, this gameplay trailer was actually shared by Nintendo Japan back in August, but it was completely in Japanese; now we get to experience it in English.
Take a look:
Grow a squad of adorable, plantlike Pikmin to traverse a strange world and save your planet Command a capable crop of 5 different types of Pikmin™ to strategically overcome obstacles, defeat creatures, and find food for your famished home planet! You can even bring a second player along to divvy up tasks as you explore a world that seems larger than life from a pint-sized perspective.
Pikmin 3 Deluxe will release exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on Friday the 30th of October.
