The Pokemon Company has shared new official artwork featuring the three starters from the upcoming Pokemon Winds and Waves. The Grass-type Browt, Water-type Gecqua, and Fire-type Pombon appear alongside every previous generation’s starters in a special illustration created for a joint anniversary project.

The artwork was commissioned from illustrator SowSow as part of the NHK Symphony Orchestra × Pokemon Classic Concert Tour. The orchestra is marking its 100th anniversary in 2026, while Pokemon continues its year-long 30th anniversary celebrations. In the piece, older starters are shown paired with musical instruments. The three new Gen 10 starters are included in the composition but are not given instruments of their own.

Pokemon Winds and Waves was first revealed on Pokemon Day earlier this year, coinciding with the franchise’s exact 30th anniversary date of February 27. The dual titles are scheduled for release in 2027 on Nintendo Switch 2 and will introduce the tenth generation of mainline Pokemon games. While the initial trailer confirmed the starter trio, additional details on their evolutions, secondary types, and the broader region have remained limited.

The decision to include the new starters in this anniversary artwork gives fans a polished, official look at the designs outside of the announcement trailer. Browt, Gecqua, and Pombon have already generated the usual wave of speculation about final evolutions and competitive potential, and the fresh art provides a clearer view of their base forms in a different artistic style.

Pokemon’s 30th anniversary has been marked by a steady stream of commemorative releases throughout 2026. These include a special TCG set arriving in September and a comprehensive artbook covering the history of the games scheduled for December. Older titles continue to arrive on Switch as well, with FireRed and LeafGreen already available and reports suggesting Ruby, Sapphire, and Emerald could follow later this year.

The NHK collaboration adds a classical music element to the anniversary slate. Concerts are planned across Japan, pairing orchestral performances with Pokemon themes. Using the full lineup of starters, including the newest trio, ties the franchise’s past and future together in a single visual.

Pokemon Winds and Waves remains more than a year away, but moments like this keep the new generation visible while the company focuses on anniversary content. The new artwork does not reveal evolutions or additional regional Pokemon, yet it reinforces that the starters are locked in and ready for further promotion as the 2027 window approaches.

For now, fans have a fresh official depiction of Browt, Gecqua, and Pombon to examine. As the anniversary year continues and the Switch 2 library expands, further details on the next mainline games will eventually take center stage. Until then, the starters remain one of the few confirmed pieces of Generation 10 that players can already see and discuss.
