SUPER MARIO 3D-ALL STARS: New Update Has Added Inverted Camera And GameCube Controller Support

Super Mario 3D All-Stars has just received a new update that has finally added the requested inverted camera, and it has also added Nintendo GameCube controller support for Super Mario Sunshine.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars was released in September of this year, and it brought with it slightly enhanced versions of Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy. It wasn't long, however, until fans noticed something was different: camera controls were inverted.

It took them about a month, but Nintendo finally addressed the situation and revealed that a new update that would add camera controls would be rolling out in November, which would allow Super Mario 3D All-Stars players to invert the games' controls; particularly useful for those playing Super Mario Sunshine.

The new update for Super Mario 3D All-Stars has actually just become available, and it has finally added the inverted camera controls that fans had been requesting since the game launched, but that's not all Nintendo added, as they have decided to go the extra mile and add support for the Nintendo GameCube controller.

That's right, Nintendo didn't really need to add GameCube controller support, but they did it any way, and fans will definitely thank them for it, since Super Mario Sunshine's water-spraying mechanic was built around the controller's pressure-sensitive shoulder buttons.

Unfortunately, GameCube controller support is not available when playing in handheld mode, only when playing in TV mode, which also makes this awesome feature not available on the Nintendo Switch Lite. Nintendo also reminds players that they'll need a GameCube controller and the special adaptor in order to connect it to the Nintendo Switch.

Other minor issues have also been addressed in Super Mario 3D All-Stars Update Ver. 1.1.0 that was released last night, so be sure to visit the official Nintendo Support website to learn more about it.

Three Mario adventures in one collection jumps on to Nintendo Switch! With HD visuals, take Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario Galaxy on the go in Super Mario 3D All-Stars. The collection arrives September 18 as a limited release until the end of March 2021.

Super Mario 3D All-Stars is available for the Nintendo Switch, for a limited time, until the 31st of March, 2021.

Nintendo always delivers! I’m glad they’re doing more to make this celebration properly special. Now if they could patch in tighter controls for Super Mario 64, I’d be hella grateful.

@8thDoctor - Now I'm even more convinced that the game won't be a limited release...but I still need confirmation. Having the game available until March is ridiculously anti-consumer, but these updates make me think that the game will not disappear from the eShop.
