We have some exciting news for Super Mario Bros. fans! The Super Mario Bros. Movie just announced on their official twitter that the release date of the film has been bumped up 2 days, and will now be officially releasing in the United States on April 5th! The film will only be in theaters for the month of April, so make sure to get your tickets before it leaves theaters! According to IMDB, the film will be following the story of The Super Mario Bros. on their journey through the Mushroom Kingdom!

Matthew Fogel, writer for The Lego Movie 2, and Aaron Horvath, writer for Teen Titan's Go! To the Movies, will be writing for the film. Michael Jelenic will be co-directing the film. Shigeru Myamoto and Chris Meledandri with Illumination studios will be producing the film for Universal Pictures distrubution.
The film's cast list includes some big names! Chris Pratt as the titular plumber and one-half of the Mario Bros. with Jack Black as Bowser, and Charlie Day as Luigi. The rest of the cast is rounded out with Anya-Taylor Joy as Princess Peach, Seth Rogan as Donkey Kong, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.
The Japanese opening is scheduled for April 28, with other regions to follow throughout April and May.
