FIFA 19 was comfortably sitting in the number 1 spot.
According to a new study revealed by Gf Entertainment,
FIFA 19 is not only the best-selling boxed video game of 2018 in the United Kingdom, but is also the highest selling video game of 2018 in Europe; breaking yet another record for Electronic Arts' very popular football series.
The study conducted by Gfk Entertainment took into account sales for
FIFA 19 from 15 European countries, resulting in EA Sports' titile being the highest seller despite of it coming out by the end of September in 2018; making it even more of an impressive feat.
Gfk Entertainment also reveals that Rockstar Games'
Red Dead Redemption 2 was the second highest selling title of 2018 in Europe, with an impressive $725 million in revenue made since the game's launch in late October; even managing to ship a staggering
17 million copies worldwide within its first week since release.
It is worth mentioning that FIFA 19 was released for the PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Windows, while Red Dead Redemption 2 was only released on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One — which more than likely helped EA Sports' football title take the lead.
According to GamesIndustry.biz, the 15 countries that Gfk Entertainment took into account to conduct this study were Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Sweden, Switzerland, Spain and the United Kingdom.
