A couple of days ago, 2K Games' official Twitter account for theii Mafia series shared its first tweet in almost 2 years, which prompted fans to believe that an announcement about either a remake of the original games or a brand-new entry could be made any time soon.
As it turns out, fans were right, as 2K Games released a teaser trailer for Mafia Trilogy, which — as the name very obviously suggests — is a compilation of all three of the games in the critically acclaimed Mafia series. The recently announced title was also revealed to launch for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC(Epic, Steam).
This teaser trailer for Mafia Trilogy also revealed that the official trailer for the game, as well as more information, will be shared on Tuesday the 19th of May, but additional information seems to have leaked — and it suggests that the new version of Mafia II could become available as soon as next week.
As reported by Eurogamer, a Microsoft Store listing revealed that Mafia II Definitive Edition is scheduled to launch on the same day more information about the Mafia Trilogy will be revealed, 19th of May, and it will be featuring all of the previously released DLC. It is worth mentioning, however, that the listing on the Microsoft Store website has since been removed.
This information also revealed that Mafia II Definitive Edition is more of a remaster than a remake, but it is still best to wait for 2K Games' official announcement to confirm this.
What's more, it seems that the game that will actually be a complete remake of the original is the first Mafia game, and sources claim that 2K Games will be launching this game at a yet-to-be-determined date in August. Again, it is best to wait for 2K Games' official announcement before we can jump into any conclusions.
With the announcement of Mafia Trilogy, the developers also shared some high-definition screenshots to give players a better idea of what to expect from this collection.
