Metacritic Reveals The Annual Ranking Of Last Year's Biggest Publishers And Nintendo Somehow Didn't Win

The Big N didn't win this year, but managed to come close to the throne of last year's best publishers. Metacritic has released today the ranking that is basing on four categories - average Metascore for all games released in 2017, the percentage of scored products with good reviews (Metascore of at least 75), the percentage of scored products with bad reviews (49 or lower; in this case, a lower percentage is better) and the number of "great" titles (Metascore of 90 or higher, min. 7 reviews).

Bethesda, Nintendo and Sega have many reasons to celebrate, while EA didn't even qualify in the ranking for the biggest publishers of the last year. Thanks to games such as Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus, Dishonored: Death of the Outsider, and Skyrim, Fallout 4 & Doom VR, Bethesda managed to secure the first position, followed closely by Nintendo (Super Mario Odyssey, The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Xenoblade Chronicles 2). Take a look at the full list for the major publishers:

1. Bethesda
2. Nintendo
3. Sega
4. Activision Blizzard
5. Capcom
6. Ubisoft
7. Sony
8. Square Enix
9. Bandai Namco
10. Koei Tecmo
11. NIS America
12. Telltale Games
