Capcom could be teasing a new entry in their long-neglected Mega Man X series, as new artwork surfaces online; bringing hope to fans who are still waiting for that Mega Man X9 to be announced.

The image in question is artwork for the Mega Man X series' 25th anniversary, which saw the first game in the popular franchise by Capcom kaing its debut in December of 1993. This also agrees with a tease found in the official soundtrack for Mega Man X Legacy Collection, which hinted at Mega Man X9 being in some stage of development at the time; even if only as an idea.

What's interesting is that the designs in this artwork are based on the redesigned look for Mega Man X from the TruForce collectible action figure. The TruForce Mega Man X figure, however, only redesigned X, and this image gives us a first look at redesigned versions of Zero, Alia, and Axl; who is front and centre in the artwork. Perhaps a new game would have Axl featured as the main character?

The man wearing the Mega Man hat in the pictures is the Mega Man host on Capcom's official YouTube channel standing next to Masakazu Eguchi, who is the level designer of Mega Man 11 and was also the writer in the Mega Man Battle Network series.

The original Mega Man X came out on the 17th of December in 1993, and now that Capcom is celebrating the series' 25th anniversary, we should expect more official information from Capcom in the coming days. This is definitely some exciting news for fans of Mega Man X, who may soon be getting a brand-new, and long-awaited title in the X series
