DayZ, one of the original open-world zombie survival games which has seemingly been in Early Access forever, is ready to enter Beta on PC... Next year.
Lead producer Eugen Harton posted a road map of sorts on the DayZ website, detailing plans for this year and beyond. Harton admits 2018 will be a very important year for game, which is not only expected to enter Beta, but also have a console version release as well.
"As soon as the PC beta is headed in a way we like, we're still committed to bringing DayZ to Xbox, where we have a large community of gamers patiently (very patiently!) waiting for a truly hardcore online survival game," he wrote. "All of that will (and must) happen next year - meaning we're just about to start what could possibly be the most exciting year for DayZ so far. In short: DayZ will be out of Early Access next year, and we'll also finally deliver it to console players in 2018."
Although Harton specifically mentions Xbox, it's presumed that "console players" also refers to the PlayStation 4 crowd. After all, the survival game was announced for Sony's system all the way back at Gamescom 2014.
