The Marvel Rivals Closed Alpha Test wrapped up this week, after a solid 10 days of player testing. With no NDA, plenty of footage made its way online — but not without a bit of drama.

The Marvel Rivals Closed Alpha Test provided players with a small sample of the full scope of the game. 19 characters were playable in three game modes across three maps. Developer NetEase promised there will be more content available at the game at launch, and it seems that some of this content has been leaked.

Miller Ross, a prominent industry source who specializes in superhero video game leaks, datamined the Closed Alpha Test build to reveal a total of 20 new characters not yet featured in the game. Among the characters discovered in the datamine were Hawkeye, Captain America, the Fantastic Four, Venom, Thor, and more. The full list of leaked characters includes:

  1. Human Torch
  2. Hawkeye
  3. Captain America
  4. Cloak and Dagger
  5. Ultron
  6. Moon Knight
  7. Squirrel Girl
  8. Black Widow
  9. Venom
  10. Thor
  11. Mr. Fantastic
  12. Winter Soldier
  13. Blade
  14. Adam Warlock
  15. Jeff the Landshark
  16. Psylocke
  17. Wolverine
  18. Invisible Woman
  19. The Thing
  20. Iron Fist (Lin Lie)

Just because these files pertaining to these characters were discovered in the game doesn't necessarily mean they will be available at launch. Miller noted:

"Most of the latter have skills and flavor text present and fully translated. Haven't compared to the CPAT build to see what else is here but there may be images...From a development perspective, they seem to be numbered in order of when development on that character started. There's a very old tutorial laying around that centers exclusively around Hulk, and Lin Lie seems to have only just begun development in the last month or two."

Assuming all of these characters do make it into the game as some point, Marvel Rivals would boast an impressive roster of 39 total playable heroes and villains.

So far, these 19 characters have already been confirmed to be playable on launch day:

  1. Spider-Man
  2. Hulk
  3. Iron Man
  4. Doctor Strange
  5. Black Panther
  6. Loki
  7. Star-Lord
  8. Rocket Raccoon
  9. Groot
  10. Mantis
  11. Namor
  12. Peni Parker
  13. Magik
  14. Luna Snow
  15. Storm
  16. Magneto
  17. The Punisher
  18. Scarlet Witch
  19. Hela

Marvel Rivals is an online team-based PvP shooter that has drawn comparisons to Blizzard's Overwatch. The game features fast-paced, 6v6 team-based combat across maps based on iconic locations with dynamic environmental destruction.

Marvel Rivals does not yet have a release date and has only been announced for PC. There is speculation, however, that it could come to additional platforms such as PlayStation and/or Xbox.
