In just a few days, NetEase will kick off its Closed Alpha Test for Marvel Rivals, the recently announced team-based arena shooter.
This Closed Alpha Test will provide players with our first real hands-on time with the game, which has drawn comparisons to Blizzard's Overwatch.
Ahead of the Closed Alpha Test this Friday, NetEase shared a FAQ page with all of the details you need to know, including the start and end dates, PC system requirements, what content will be available and more.
The Marvel Rivals Closed Alpha Test will go live on Friday, May 10th at 5:00 p.m. PDT and will run until May 20th at 11:59 p.m. PDT. As NetEase previously explained, only 30,000 players who signed up to participate — from the United States and Canada only — will be invited. Those who meet certain milestones during the test will receive additional invite codes that they can send to their friends to have them join in.
Players must have met the recommended system requirements to get an invite. As a reminder, the recommended system requirements for the Alpha Test are:
- Operating System: Windows 10 64-bit
- Processor: Intel Core i5-10400 or AMD Ryzen 5 5600X
- Memory: 16 GB
- Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 (Super) or AMD RX 5700-XT
- DirectX Version: 12
- Storage Space: 70 GB SSD
Once live, there will be five modes available: Tutorial, Quick Match, Pocket Universe, Custome, and Competitive. Here's how NetEase describes each:
- TUTORIAL: Learn the basic techniques of fighting as a Super Hero with Galacta!
- QUICK MATCH: Choose your hero, defeat enemies, and complete mission objectives!
- POCKET UNIVERSE: Respawn at a flexible location and eliminate as many enemies as you can!
- CUSTOM: Create Customized Matches to play with or against your friends!
- COMPETITIVE: Ascend through the ranks amid thrilling and intense battles!
Competitive mode won't launch until the second day at 5:00 p.m. PDT. Following its launch, Competitive mode will unlock daily and be available from 12:00 p.m. PDT to 12:00 a.m. PDT.
In addition to these options, there are three distinct game types(Convoy, Domination, and Convergence) playable across three maps (YGGSGARD: YGGDRASILL PATH, YGGSGARD: ROYAL PALACE, and TOKYO 2099: SHIN-SHIBUYA). The following characters will be playable: Black Panther, Doctor Strange, Groot, Hela, Hulk, Iron Man, Loki, Luna Snow, Magik, Magneto, Mantis, Namor, Peni Parker, Punisher, Rocket Raccoon, Star-Lord, Storm, Scarlet Witch, and Spider-Man.
NetEase notes that this is just a "small sample of the full scope of the game." Naturally, more content will be available at launch, with plans to continue supporting the game with new content post-launch.
Speaking of launch, Marvel Rivals still doesn't have a release date. The game has only been announced for PC, but there is speculation it could come to additional platforms later on.
