Dark fantasy RPG
Hellgate: London launched in 2007 developed by former Blizzard Entertainment employees, some of whom had overseen the creation of the
Diablo series. Set in a post-apocalyptic London in the year 2038,
Hellgate: London promised gamers a never-ending gameplay experience as the game featured the core design of roguelikes by using random generation of maps and monsters.
Hellgate: London also included solo and cooperative PvE combat, but the original servers were shut down on February 1, 2009, two years since the RPG's pivotal release, but it wasn't the end of
Hellgate's journey. On November 12, 2009, Korean computer game publishing company HanbitSoft announced the re-development of
Hellgate: London and re-launched the game's multiplayer seven years ago.
In 2014,
Hellgate: London returned as a Steam Greenlight title, which included a
Tokyo expansion. That return failed miserably, but it looks like HanbitSoft still doesn't give up as
Hellgate: London is back on Steam, releasing November 15, 2008. The Steam page reveals that not much has changed since HanbitSoft's last attempt on reviving
Hellgate and it basically is the same title that hit stores in 2007.
