Breach officially enters Early Access this week after a closed beta which saw its way through most of Fall through the end of 2018. The developers,
QC Games, founded by former leads of EA and Bioware, bring over at least parts of what certainly was their cancelled IP, yet highly anticipated title,
Shadow Realms.
Breach, looks to build a bridge between two very popular genres: the action RPG, and the co-op multiplayer. Not only does it have this ambitious mountain to climb, but it also looks to meld the aesthetics of more fantasy based worlds, with a bit of futuristic sci-fi and tech gear. All-in-all, the foundation is there to really create something truly special both in gameplay, customization and most importantly, replayability.
Each game, or match, will pit 4 players against a computer controlled "Veil Demon," the boss at the end of the tunnel. Before reaching him however, players will have to battle through a slew of randomly generated rooms, each with its own objective: one may have a payload objective, another may have a 'capture the flag'-type--all while fighting smaller minions. After each room, skill points are either awarded to the Veil Demon, or the players, dependent on who won the objective of the last room, and these points will benefit them only for the rest of the map and through the boss fight--a gameplay aspect very similar to MOBAs.
Item rewards and level experience are given out based on performance to players at the end of the map, whether defeating the Boss or not, and items vary from increasing damage to giving attacks lifesteal.
The game already includes 18 different classes, each with their own set of skills and weapon types, and are all fully customizable.
Modern Earth and Mythological Earth collide in Breach, a third person action RPG with fast-paced combat. Create your own character and choose from dozens of classes. Take your character on missions across the globe in Solo, Co-op, or Versus modes. (steampowered.com)
Breach Early Access is available now on Steam for Windows PC for $24.99 USD with plans as of right now to go free-to-play later in 2019.
