The Astronauts debuted in 2014 with
The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, one of the most praised walking simulators of the last decade.
Witchfire, which was officially revealed a year ago during The Game Awards, will try to mix their storytelling skills with the shooter genre, and they do know a lot about shooting stuff, as the studio was founded by the creative leads behind
Painkiller and
Bulletstorm.
The Astronauts have revealed that
Witchfire is coming to PC (Steam) and that they are nowhere near finishing it, which simply means that you won't be able to play it anytime soon. Thanks to the recently updated
Witchfire website, we learned that in the grim game’s world, witches are more than real, and the player will channel their inner inquisitor as the punishing hand of the medieval Church.
The fact that The Astronauts' first video game was a story-focused title may suggest you that
Witchfire is also putting a heavy emphasis on the narration and characters, but that's not the case, as it will feature no cut-scenes or dialogue options, offering you a lot of shooting, challenges, and mastery, instead. Be sure to take a look at the latest action-packed teasers for
Witchfire down below:
During the 300 years of European witch hunts that started in the 15th century, tens of thousands of women, men and children lost their lives due to superstition, politics and profit. But that’s our history and our world. In the world of Witchfire, witches are real. And you are the punishing hand of the Church.
Witchfire is coming to PC and doesn't have a set release date.
