The
PlayStation Classic was revealed back in September, ad a lot of fans that grew up with the original Sony PlayStation were thrilled to see one of their favourite consoles being given the "
Nintendo Classic" treatment; until they saw the list of games the mini PlayStation included.
Sony's new mini console comes with 20-preloaded games; some of which are pretty iconic, and some others seem to be there only to fill a quota, to be quite honest. The lack of heavy-hitters on the
PlayStation Classic is something that has not bode well with fans who were excited when the console was announced.
A new report suggests that the
PlayStation Classic would've included a lot more games than the 20 pre-loaded games the console actually includes. The news comes from a post created on
GitHubGist, which showed that—upon datamining Sony's mini console—a list of 36 games were not included in the
PlayStation Classic.
The
PlayStation Classic uses a port of the PCSX emulator, and the datamined code has shown that the core version of this emulator shows differences between a custom version of the emulator; revealing 36 games that are not in the final product but were, apparently, tested by Sony.
The full list of titles that were found in the code dump are the following:
-
Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon
-
Colin McRae Rally
-
Crash Bandicoot
-
Crash 2
-
Toy Story 2
-

-

The fact that these titles showed up, if the datamine is legitimate, couldmean that Sony was only testing the game's performance on the emulator and decided to not include them due to performance issues. Another reason for the games being left out could be due to licensing issues and maybe they weren't able to get the rights to some of those games.
Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2, for instance, would've been a difficult game to get the rights for; mainly due to the sheer amount of songs they would have had to get the rights for. Whatever the case, the list of games revealed in this datamine is, quite frankly, a whole lot better than the list of games the
PlayStation Classic actually included.
