Sony has confirmed that an overwhelming majority of PlayStation 4 titles will be compatible with the highly anticipated, and soon-to-be-released PlayStation 5, and that's a news that has made quite a handful of players excited for the next-gen console; as if there weren't enough reasons already.
Not only will most games be compatible, but some will also benefit from the PlayStation 5's processing power. While not every developer has revealed exactly how their games will be affected, most will benefit from better loading times, while some others will get a bump in resolution and frame rate.
Today Santa Monica Studio has revealed that the critically acclaimed God of War(2018) is one of the games that will be enhanced by the PlayStation 5's hardware. In this particular case, the developer confirms that the game will run at 60FPS on the console's "Favour Performance" mode.
God of War(2018) already supported 60FPS on the PlayStation 4 thanks to the Performance Mode feature, but the truth is that the game mostly ran at 50-55FPS, and ws only available for PlayStation 4 Pro players; the base console's version of the game ran at 30FPS.
The good news don't end there, as Santa Monica Studio also confirms that players will be able to transfer their progress when playing God of War(2018) on PlayStation 5; allowing them to pick up right where they left off on their PlayStation 4.
What's more, the developer also announces that transferring save data will also be possible when playing God of War III Remastered on the PlayStation 5, which is phenomenal news for fans of the long-running God of War series.
