On August 22nd, the PS2 Classic
Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy made its long-awaited debut on the PS4. This release came with
Uncharted: The Lost Legacy as a preorder bonus. Given the popularity of these platformers, Sony assured fans that the rest of the games in the series would be released before the end of the year. Despite the lateness of the launch, its good to see that gamers will finally be able to play the PS2 Classics versions of
Jak 2,
Jak 3 and
Jak X Combat Racing.
Jak 2, which was released in 2003, was a significant departure from the first game. Shooting and open world elements were introduced. A more mature approach was also incorporated into the game's aesthetic.
Jak 3 came out a mere 13 months later and finished the trilogy. 2005's
Jak X Racing took the series in a completely new direction by focusing on family-friendly combat racing. It should be noted that this'll be the first time players experience the latter game since its debut. It has been unavailable in digital form.
The games will play at 1080p resolution, have trophy support, Share Play and Remote Play. While interested buyers can choose to acquire the games individually, Sony is offering a bundle. Pricing information has not been revealed at this time.
