MARVEL'S SPIDER-MAN: MILES MORALES Will See Miles As The Only Playable Character, Insomniac Games Confirms

MARVEL's Spider-Man: Miles Morales Creative Director Brian Horton reveals that the game will focus solely on Miles, which means that he will be the only playable character in it.

One of the complaints that some players had with MARVEL's Spider-Man was that the game would suddenly come to a hault and have players play as characters other than Peter Parker or Spider-Man. This is something that becomes more apparent on a second playthrough, but it still made some players feel slightly disappointed.

MARVEL's Spider-Man sees Peter Parker/Spider-Man being the main playable character, of course, as well as Mary Jane Watson and Miles Morales; with many players agreeing that missions that involved Miles were definitely better paced — and more interesting, even — than MJ missions.

This will not be the case in MARVEL's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, as Insomniac Games has confirmed that Miles is the only playable character in the game, although this doesn't necessarily mean that there won't be any missions that lean towards the "stealth" side of things.

In a recent interview with Game Informer, MARVEL's Spider-Man: Miles Morales Creative Director Brian Horton stated that neither Miles's best friend Ganke Lee nor any other characters will be playable in the game; it's all Miles 100% of the time.

"We are Miles 100% of the time. We wanted to focus on the two parts of Miles: Miles as a kid, you know, a non-hero...so we have sequences on the bridge demo where he's walking through the streets, and then we have all of his superhero stuff. But really focusing on Miles allowed us to put maximum effort into delivering the best Miles experience we could," explained Horton.

MARVEL's Spider-Man: Miles Morales is a shorter game than its predecessor, at only 10 to 15 hours in length, so it is really reassuring to know that they are wasting no time getting the story moving, and focusing 100% of the time on Miles, and Miles alone.

Brian Horton's interview with Game Informer is actually quite lengthy, but we still encourage you to watch it in its entirety, as he does reveal some very interesting details about MARVEL's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, its development, and many other things. For convenience's sake, we have linked to the bit in which he specifically talks about Miles being the only playable character, however.

Check it out:

In the latest adventure in the Marvel’s Spider-Man universe, teenager Miles Morales is adjusting to his new home while following in the footsteps of his mentor, Peter Parker, as a new Spider-Man. But when a fierce power struggle threatens to destroy his new home, the aspiring hero realizes that with great power, there must also come great responsibility.
