It's been over a decade since Shenmue 2 was released, so it's no surprise that fans are eagerly anticipating the launch of the third entry on November 19. However, even with all of the excitement surrounding Shenmue 3, Deep Silver's plans for its release have raised some eyebrows.
The publisher first drew the ire of some fans when it revealed back in June that the PC version of the title would be an Epic Games store exclusive. Nevertheless, it was arguably the company's decision to lift the review embargo days after launch.
As there was initially no reason for this choice, it caused many fans to believe that the publisher had no faith Shenmue 3. Fortunately, Deep Silver has revealed via Twitter that the embargo is actually set to lift on November 19.
Although this revision will still likely cause some fans to be concerned about the quality of Shenmue 3, it's not uncommon for reviews to embargoed until launch, especially if the developers hope to keep spoilers from ending up online before release.
