Meet One Of The Sneakiest Enemies In GOD OF WAR As New Behind The Scenes Video Focuses On The Revenants

Only 2 days until God of War is finally released and, to keep us entertained while we wait, Sony have released a new Countdown to Launch video focusing, this time, on the Revenants. Creative Director Cory Barlog, Principal Character Artist Rafael Grassetti, and Lead Gameplay Designer Jason McDonald tell us, once again, about God of War and the vile creatures Kratos will come across in the game.

"The Revenant is one of those enemies that the son has more aptitude with than Kratos. Something that says like 'look, Atreus is integrated into the loop for them' ", says Barlog.

Grassetti mentions that they had a lot of designs for the revenant but ended up with the pestilence witch. Regarding the witches, he mentions that "...there's a lot of poison and so you go into areas in the game where you can start seeing the poison and you know that there might be a witch in there. We kind of play those tricks in the environment so you know what to expect."

When talking about the Revenant, Jason McDonald says that "she's very fast and very hard to hit as she's a character that has the ability to disappear and can float around."

Barlog provides some hints to fighting the Revenant and mentions that Atreus' arrows are your best bet against her, at least in order to open her up and leave her exposed for Kratos to step in.

"But even those[Atreus' arrows] are a little hard to land, you have to kind of be able to get the right positioning. So it becomes the balancing act."

His vengeance against the Gods of Olympus years behind him, Kratos now lives as a man in the realm of Norse Gods and monsters. It is in this harsh, unforgiving world that he must fight to survive…And teach his son to do the same. This startling reimagining of God of War deconstructs the core elements that defined the series—satisfying combat; breathtaking scale; and a powerful narrative—and fuses them anew.

God of War will be available exclusively for the PlayStation 4 when it releases on the 20th of April.
