In an attempt to create a strategic, cerebral engagement between the player and Kratos, Creative Director Cory Barlog and his team have taken great efforts towards presenting a fresh combat system that doesn't mimic games like Dark Souls. To this end, new tactical opportunities are created by Kratos's new axe. Furthermore, his shield is handy when defense is the chosen strategy. In addition, the inclusion of Atreus's arrows offers the opportunity for ranged attacks and combo chains.
