The highly-anticipated season finale of The Last of Us airs this Sunday, and HBO has now shared a series of new promo stills for "Look for the Light."
Spoilers follow.
If you've played the Naughty Dog video game, you should be familiar with some of the scenes these images are teasing (yes, there will be a giraffe!), but the episode opens with an all-new sequence that hasn't been adapted from the game.
Ashley Johnson, who provides the voice of Ellie in the games, plays the character's mother in the show. We see her giving birth under very stressful circumstances, before handing her baby over to Marlene.
We won't say any more (you don't want every surprise ruined, do you?), so check out the stills at the links below and be sure to return or our full episode breakdown on Sunday.
The Last of Us is set 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed and centers on the relationship between Joel, a smuggler in this new world, and Ellie, a teenager who may be key to a cure for a deadly pandemic. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle the 14-year-old girl out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey as they traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.
Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) and the game's creator Neil Druckmann wrote and exec produced the show.
