It's been quite a rough couple of days for fans of The Last of Us series and developer Naughty Dog, since major plot points about the latest entry in the survival/horror leaked online, and giving away pretty much every detail; for better or worse, some may argue.
The good news is that The Last of Us Part II was finally given an official release date, and those who have not yet been spoiled by the leak can definitely look forward to playing the game when it launches exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on the 19th of June.
Before the official release date for the game was revealed, however, Naughty Dog made the decision to delay the game, since it was already expected to launch on the 29th of May. What made things worse was that the delay was also revealed to be indefinite. This eventually led to Naughty Dog's highly anticipated The Last of Us Part II being pulled from the PlayStation Store.
Today, and now that The Last of Us Part II has finally been given an official release date, PlayStation has re-added the game to their online store — allowing players to pre-order a copy of the game; with both the Standard version of the game and the Digital Deluxe Edition for players to choose from.
It is also worth mentioning that pre-orders for the Ellie Edition, Collector's Edition, and Special Edition of The Last of Us Part II are also now available on the official website for the game, which you can visit by clicking right here.
Five years after their dangerous journey across the post-pandemic United States, Ellie and Joel have settled down in Jackson, Wyoming. Living amongst a thriving community of survivors has allowed them peace and stability, despite the constant threat of the infected and other, more desperate survivors. When a violent event disrupts that peace, Ellie embarks on a relentless journey to carry out justice and find closure. As she hunts those responsible one by one, she is confronted with the devastating physical and emotional repercussions of her actions.
The Last of Us Part II is expected to release exclusively for the PlayStation 4 on the 19th of June.
