The Last of Us Part II was announced back in December of 2016. It's almost been three years since then and yet we're none the wiser of when it will be coming out. However, with the first game often regarded as one of the best of all time, there's no doubt that it will live up to the hype. Naughty Dog haven't put out a dud in forever — if ever.
Troy Baker, the voice actor who plays Joel in
The Last of Us and its upcoming sequel, recently visisted Manchester Comic-Con and spoke to
Push Square about
The Last of Us Part II. Baker teased that the highly anticipated, upcoming video game will be the most ambitious one that Naughty Dog has ever put together. This is some high praise considering the studio's previous works.
“I can tell you this: it’s hands down the most ambitious game that Naughty Dog has ever done for sure,” Baker explained before stating that it exceeded his expectations.
“It’s far larger than I thought was going to be possible.”
Last month, Baker's
The Last of Us co-star, Ashley Johnson
appeared to reveal that the upcoming sequel will release in February of this year — though this was later
refuted by Johnson herself. Baker was asked about this during the aformentioned interview and reaffirmed that it was a joke that many blew out of proportion.
“It’ll be out 31st February, that’s what [Johnson] said – people just took it out of context. Wow, I’m sure she got a call from Sony saying, ‘Shut up!’ She’s like, ‘Guys, it’s a f*cking joke!’”
"I think they’ve probably been smart not to tell us because we can’t slip up and say something stupid. Last time we announced, we slipped. And they don’t want to do that again. We are still cranking on it, I can tell you that much. Where it’s at in development, I have no idea."
