Fans of Dungeons & Dragons across the pond will be waiting a while longer for their big show. Wizards of the Coast and AEG Presents have postponed the D&D Fan Expo: London, which was set for The O2 this August 21st and 22nd. The event now lands September 4th and 5th, 2027, per the joint announcement.
You may have seen this one floating around as a cancellation. The accurate word is "postponed": the venue stays The O2, existing tickets remain valid for the new dates, and refunds are on offer for anyone who can't make the switch.
The official reason is growth. The organizers say the extra year lets them "expand the show and bring a bigger, better celebration of Dungeons & Dragons with more to see, more to do, and more special guests involved."
There's also community speculation that the cost of flying talent across the Atlantic played a part, the same pressure that's squeezed other big London fan events lately. Treat that strictly as chatter: neither Wizards nor AEG has said anything of the sort, and the only stated reason is the one above.
The sting is real for anyone who'd built travel plans around late August, and thirteen months is a long runway to hold onto hype. On the other hand, a bigger O2 show with a deeper guest list arrives in 2027 with the 2024 rules era in full stride, and D&D has precious few events at this scale outside North America. If the trade is one lost summer for a properly stacked show, plenty of players will take it.
That's a long rest, even by D&D standards!
The brand itself is hardly going quiet. At San Diego Comic-Con this week, Hasbro rolled out a whole D&D lineup: Iron Studios unveiled a Beholder statue as its first-ever D&D collectible, Dark Horse announced an ongoing comic series built around the Mad Mage Mordenkainen assembling a party of legendary heroes, and a new Questers action-figure line is aimed at getting the youngest players rolling dice early. The machine keeps moving; London just fell off this year's calendar.
For UK fans doing the math: held tickets carry straight over, and the 2027 dates land on a Saturday and Sunday. If the show delivers the expanded guest list the organizers are promising, the O2 could end up hosting one of the biggest D&D gatherings Europe has seen.
Were you holding tickets for the London expo, and does a bigger 2027 show soften the blow of the wait?
