A live-action television series based on apocalyptic action-adventure game The Last of Us is currently in the midst of production. Based on the Naughty Dog video game of the same name, The Last of Us is set to air on HBO in 2022 and will star Pedro Pascal (The Mandalorian) as Joel and Bella Ramsey (Game of Thrones) as Ellie.

The cast also includes Gabriel Luna (Terminator: Dark Fate) as Tommy, Anna Torv (Mindhunter) as Tess, Con O'Neill as Bill, and Merle Dandridge will reprise the role of Marlene — being the actress who originally played that character in the video game. Neil Druckmann also reprises his role as the show's writer, working alongside Craig Mazin, writer of the acclaimed Chernobyl television series.

It's said that the television series adaptation will largely be faithful to the first game, however, some changes are already apparent. For instance, it seems that the dam location will be absent altogether from the series and the sanctuary at Jackson will take its place. Jackson was only mentioned in the first The Last of Us video game, however, it featured significantly in the sequel.

Some footage filmed on the set of The Last of Us HBO television series just days ago shows off Pascal, Ramsey, and Luna as Joel, Ellie, and Tommy at the Jackson location — though it's filmed in Canmore, Alberta as opposed to Jackson, Wyoming.

It appears as though the seasons might also be out of sync with the game. In the game, the dam segment wherein Joel and Ellie meet Tommy took place during fall. In the series, however, it looks more like winter what with all the snow strung about the place. Additionally, Joel appears to be sporting a limp which could mean that his major injury takes place earlier than it did in the game.

What do you think about the discrepancies between HBO's The Last of Us television series and the original game? Check out the footage for yourself below (via @TheLastofUsNews):
