In 2011, Koushi Tachibana's light novel series Date A Live was launched in Fujimi Shobo's Monthly Dragon Age Magazine. The light novel series was a massive success from 2011 to 2020, with a total of 22 volumes.
From the success of the light novels, a manga series was later released, in 2012, with one volume, while a second was released that same year, which ran for four. After the manga and light novels, an anime series later premiered in 2013 and is still airing today.
Covering so many forms of media, it was only a matter of time before the franchise entered the world of video games. Since 2013, with the release of Date A Live: Rinne Utopia, the series has since released multiple additions to the franchise. The most recent release will be Date A Live Ren Dystopia.
The newest Compile Heart game has had a bit of a rocky release schedule, with the game having an initial release of summer 2019 to now being released in the fall of this year. The newest game will feature a limited edition that contains a Drama CD and a short story booklet by the creator of the series. The pre-order release will also include a completely separate drama CD from the previous.
As the launch date inches closer, the developers decided to release a special promo video for fans. Make sure to check it out, and don't forget to share your thoughts in the comments!
The game's story begins on a normal night, when Shido dreams of a voice calling out from within a deep darkness. When he wakes up in the morning, he finds a box decorated with serpentine patterns by his bedside. At first he thinks it is a prank, and asks everybody about it, but something happens when he opens it.
Date A Live Ren Dystopia releases on the PS4 on September 24th!
