One week after announcing a February 18, 2022 release date for Horizon Forbidden West, Sony has set live pre-orders for the highly anticipated sequel from Guerrilla Games. As of today, fans can pre-order their copy of the game for PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5, although there are multiple editions available.
First off, it should be noted that Horizon Forbidden West will cost $69.99 for the Standard Edition on PS5, which is $10 more than the Standard Edition on PS4 ($59.99). If you have a PlayStation 4 now, but plan on purchasing a PlayStation 5 in the future, you should also know that there is no path to upgrade from the PS4 to the PS5 version of the game. Instead, you'll have to purchase the Digital Deluxe Edition for $79.99 or one of the more expensive special editions.
The Digital Deluxe Edition comes with both the PS4 and PS5 versions of the game, a digital soundtrack and artbook, digital comic book, two Carja Behemoth Elite items (Outfit and Short Bow), two Nora Thunder Elite items (Outfit and Thunder Sling), a Machine Strike piece, and an in-game resource pack containing ammunition, potions, and travel packs.
There's also the Special Edition that contains a physical disc copy for either PS4 or PS5, meaning Dual Entitlement does not apply to this one. The disc comes in a SteelBook with gorgeous artwork along with a voucher for the digital soundtrack and a mini art book. The Special Edition is available for $69.99.
The Collector's Edition ($199.99) comes with a digital copy of the game that you can play on PS4 and PS5 along with the following:
- Horizon Forbidden West (Digital) PS4 and PS5 versions
- Horizon Forbidden West SteelBook Display Case
- Download code for the game will be supplied via voucher in the box.
- A custom sculpted Tremortusk and Aloy statue
- Statues will require some assembly; detailed instructions will be provided with the box!
- Mini Art Book
- 2 Special Outfits (Carja Behemoth Elite and Nora Thunder Elite)
- 2 Special Weapons (Carja Behemoth Short Bow and Nora Thunder Sling)

And lastly, we have the Regalla Edition for a whopping $259.99. This has everything that's in the Collector's Edition plus even more physical goodies, such as 2 Art Print Cards, a Replica Sunwing and Clawstrider Machine Physical Strike Pieces, a Canvas Map, and more.
Horizon Forbidden West continues Aloy's journey. The game picks up six months after the events of Horizon Zero Dawn, as the machine hunter travels west to investigate a mysterious and deadly blight.
