Sony's Play At Home Initiative was first introduced last year at the start of the pandemic to encourage people to stay home and help contain the spread of COVID-19. While the vaccine is now rolling out and cases are dropping, we're not out of the woods yet -- so Sony opted to bring back Play At Home for another year.
Over the past few weeks, Sony has given out a total of 10 free games as both a thank you to the community and as a way to continue to encourage safe socially distanced fun. Since March, PlayStation gamers have been able to download Ratchet & Clank, Abzû, Enter the Gungeon, Rez Infinite, Subnautica, The Witness, Astro Bot Rescue Mission, Moss, Thumper, and Paper Beast.
Today, the final game offered through Play At Home is now available: Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition. First released in 2017, Horizon Zero Dawn is one of Sony's signature PlayStation exclusives. It's an open-world action-adventure RPG in which you play as Aloy, a young hunter in a world inhabited by mysterious mechanized creatures. As you explore this lush world, you'll find answers to some major questions like the purpose of these machines and what happened to the civilization that was here before.
Horizon Zero Dawn Complete Edition features the full original game as well as The Frozen Wilds expansion. The game will be available to download for free on PS4 and PS5 between April 19 (8:00 p.m. PT) and May 14 (8:00 p.m. PT). If you forgot to download any of the other games from this year's Play At Home, you have until April 22 (8:00 p.m. PT).
In a world where Machines dominate the earth and mankind lives on in primitive tribal societies, one woman sets out to find her destiny among the remnants of the ancient past. As Aloy, you must brave the Machine-infested wilderness and unearth secrets that lie buried deep within the earth. Will you embrace your calling… or pass into oblivion unsung?
